Robin Florzak Angell
Robin Florzak Angell is a versatile, award-winning communications leader who brings more than 30 years of public relations and journalism experience to her work as a freelance writer, editor and communications consultant.
Robin began her career as a wire service writer-editor and television news assignment editor before transitioning to public relations. At Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Robin pitched media stories on children’s health care and health policy, wrote for the hospital’s newsletters, and scripted video stories about patients and hospital initiatives for an annual fundraising telethon broadcast on WLS-TV.
She left the hospital to join DePaul University, where she progressed from Media Relations Specialist to Director of News & Information to Interim Assistant Vice President in the university’s Office of Public Relations & Communications. She helped shape DePaul’s public image by placing positive local and national media stories about student success, innovative programs, faculty expertise and DePaul’s community service commitment. In her leadership roles, she developed communications plans for major DePaul initiatives, handled crisis communications, and coached university executives on successful strategies for telling DePaul’s story.
After earning an MBA in marketing from DePaul, Robin moved to a new role as Assistant Dean for Marketing & Communications at DePaul’s Driehaus College of Business. There, she helped guide four business deans on communications strategy and oversaw the college’s web and social media content creation team. Robin re-envisioned and edited the college’s alumni magazine and revamped advisory council and internal communication strategies. She received DePaul’s Via Sapientiae Award, the university’s highest faculty and staff honor, upon her retirement from DePaul in 2023. Robin currently serves as President of RFA Communications, LLC.
Robin has earned communications and journalism awards that include a Platinum Public Affairs Award from PR News; Gold MarCom from the Association for Marketing and Communications; Gold and Silver Trumpet Awards from the Publicity Club of Chicago; an Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America-Chicago; and an Award of Merit from the International Association of Business Communicators.
